Couple that with the numerous warmwater fisheries available in Wisconsin and you have the ingredients for some great fishing.

The best fishing usually occurs during the dog days of summer, don't overlook a fall float though. While we target Smallies an these floats, half the fun is not knowing what else you might catch. White Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Muskie, Walleye, and Sauger clearly provide great diversity in the fishery. Bigger rods are the norm. 6-8 weight with a sinking line or a sinktip work best. Clousers, Dahlberg Divers, or Wooly Buggers all can produce some great fish.
